Because removing CO₂ from the atmosphere is critical in combating climate change, yet current technology isn’t advancing quickly enough. That’s why a portion of every purchase at Maison Deeb helps drive the development of next-generation carbon removal technologies.

Why We Contribute
For us, fighting climate change isn’t optional. We believe businesses have a crucial role to play in addressing the climate crisis. As part of Stripe Climate, a global coalition of businesses, we’re proud to support the scaling of innovative carbon removal methods. 

Stripe Climate aggregates funds from forward-thinking businesses worldwide to increase the demand for carbon removal, working alongside Frontier, Stripe’s in-house team of science and commercial experts. Together, they purchase permanent carbon removal solutions.

A Global Effort
With over 25,000 businesses across 39 countries contributing, we are part of a worldwide movement. Stripe Climate carefully evaluates emerging carbon removal technologies, and we support some of the most promising innovations in this space.

Here are two key examples from the portfolio we proudly support:

- Climeworks uses renewable geothermal energy and waste heat to capture CO₂ directly from the air. They permanently sequester it underground in basaltic rock formations, removing 322 tons of CO₂ on behalf of Stripe Climate businesses.

- Charm Industrial converts biomass into bio-oil, which is then injected deep underground for permanent geologic storage. Charm has removed 416 tons of CO₂ for Stripe Climate businesses, and we’re excited to see how this groundbreaking technology progresses.
